Low Dust was a three-person show at SOIL Gallery in Seattle, WA. Along with Jasmine Zhan and Leyi (Ruby) Yang, I presented a multimedia exhibition that approaches the idea of performance from different perspectives.
With a playful undertone and slippery intentions, we twisted the functions of objects and actions to reconsider the structure of language and its relationship to art. Through self-performed sculptures, private acts of maintenance, and performances initiated with social engagement, we blurred the boundaries between performers, objects, and audience and unveiled our ongoing inquiries into the potential of poetic language.
As part of the exhibition, I presented a performance lecture on maintenance in art. The presentation included the following artists: Charlotte Beck, Book & Wheel (Kate Connell & Oscar Melara), The Bureau of Linguistical Reality (Alicia Escott & Heidi Quante), Émeline Brulé, Jillian Crochet, Alicia Escott (solo art practice), Briana Gwin, Harley Healy, Kathleen King, Leah Koransky, Heesoo Kwon, Amy Lange, Beril Or, Sun Park, Renée Rhodes, Leslie Samson-Tabakin, Daniela Tinoco, Lulu Thrower, Heather Van Winckle, Erin McCluskey Wheeler, Jenifer K Wofford, and Jasmine Zhang
